Safety is how we run the fleet

110 vehicles and 150 people on the road every day. Our job is to get them, and everyone around them, home safely, and to prove we did everything reasonable to make that happen.

What we commit to

Four commitments, set by our board and reviewed every year.

Zero harm on the road

No serious injury caused by a ZV2X vehicle or driver. Every collision, however minor, is reported and reviewed.

Every week reviewed

Each depot manager sits down with the week's safety summary and the drivers in it. Problems are dealt with in days, not months.

Nobody alone and unseen

Anyone working alone, on the road or at a customer's site, can raise an alarm and is checked on if they go quiet.

A lighter footprint

Less idling, smoother driving and the right vehicle for each job, measured vehicle by vehicle.

How it works

The same system covers the vehicle, the person and the record.

In the vehicle

Every truck, van and car has a Geotab tracker and a two-way camera.

  • In-cab warnings for speeding, phone use and signs of tiredness
  • Truck speed recorded above 100 km/h, with a beep at 105
  • A 10 km/h limit in every depot yard
  • Driver keys, so every trip is recorded against the right person

Out of the vehicle

Our account managers and drivers at remote drops carry Zetifi Marshal on their phones.

  • A timed check-in when they work alone
  • A hold-to-confirm emergency button
  • A fit-for-duty check before each shift
  • If a check-in is missed, the right person is told

In our own systems

Marshal brings Geotab events and app alerts into ZV2X's own Microsoft 365, where our safety team already works.

  • Collisions and camera tampering land in our incident register in SharePoint, with the video attached
  • Alerts reach the right person in Teams or by email, through our own Microsoft workflows
  • We own the record, not a vendor portal

Evidence, not just alerts

A tracker that beeps is not a safety system. What matters is what happens next, and whether we can show it. Every week Zetifi prepares a safety summary from our Geotab data for our Fleet and WHS Manager and each depot manager: the key issues, the vehicles and drivers behind them, the suggested actions and a link to every clip.

Our Driving for Work Policy says what we expect. Our Connected Fleet Safety Plan says how each rule is checked. The weekly summary shows what actually happened. Together they are the evidence that we discharge our duty of care, week in, week out.

"I can open one register and see every incident, the clip, who reviewed it and what we did. That is what the board asks me for."

Sustainability

The data that keeps drivers safe also shows where we waste fuel. Safe driving and efficient driving are mostly the same thing.

Fuel and idling

Geotab measures fuel use and idling for every vehicle. Idling is reviewed by depot each month, and harsh braking and acceleration, which burn fuel as well as tyres, are in the weekly summary.

Emissions reporting

Fuel and distance data from Geotab gives us a vehicle-by-vehicle emissions figure for our reporting, rather than an estimate from fuel card totals.

The right vehicle

Trip data shows which vans run short, predictable routes. Those are the first candidates as we look at electric vans for the metro depots.
